Temple Owls head coach Steve Addazio, who was once thought to be a leading candidate to replace Greg Schiano at Rutgers, is now reportedly not leaving Temple (via Philly.com).

"He's not going to Rutgers," said one source with inside knowledge.

Addazio arrived at Temple last season and guided the Owls to a 9-4 record and a win in the New Mexico Bowl.

Addazio had been named by multiple reports as one of the finalists for the Rutgers job. Temple denied the reports that Addazio was a finalist and refused further comment. Earlier this offseason, Addazio was linked to the opening at the University of Illinois. Addazio said he was not interested in the opening.

The other reported candidates to replace Schiano were Rutgers interim head coach Kyle Flood, Rutgers offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti, Florida International head coach Mario Cristobal and New York Giants offensive line coach Pat Flaherty.
