Gabriel Gomez’s 56th minute equalizer salvaged a 1-1 draw for the Philadelphia Union on the road at FC Dallas on Saturday night.

The Union fell behind early when Blas Pérez beat Chase Harrison in the 7th minute to give Dallas the 1-0 lead. It was Harrison’s first MLS start in place of the injured Zac MacMath.

“Sometimes when that early goal gets in you have to say, ‘Alright that’s done,’” Harrison told the team’s website. “There’s nothing else I can do about it, so let’s just play hard for the rest of the 82 minutes left in the game. Let’s recoup and move on to the next play of the game.”

In addition to MacMath, the Union were without Freddy Adu (suspension) and defender Carlos Valdez had to leave and get stitches. Manager Peter Nowak said that that teams’ fightback last night showed that they are starting to believe.

“I think it’s a very positive result for us after a disappointing loss against New York,” Nowak said. “We all felt bad thinking that we had played our best game of the season (against NY but still lost), so it’s a good sign of the continuation that the guys are starting to believe in the way we play. As I’ve said, there’s still work to do, but we are moving forward as a group and we are going to keep fighting.”

The Union are back in action next Saturday away at Toronto FC.

The Philadelphia Union will look to snap a three-game losing streak Saturday night, as they face FC Dallas – also losers of three straight.

The Philadelphia Union will take on the FC Dallas on Saturday night, with neither team playing particularly well. After nine games, the Union have only two wins, and sit second-to-last in the Eastern Conference standings. Meanwhile, FC Dallas has only three wins in 12 games – sixth in the West.

Both teams come into Saturday's action riding three-game losing streaks.

"It's a tricky game," said coach Peter Nowak, whose opposition is also on a three-game losing swing. "[FC Dallas] had a couple guys with suspensions and they need points -- just like us. It's going to be an interesting game. It'll be physical, because that's how they play at home, and they are trying to find a recipe for success. With [Daniel] Hernandez and [Brek] Shea, they try to find a way to win the games. We need to be ready for that."

The game is scheduled for 8:30 EST.

Philadelphia Union goaltender Zac MacMath has been ruled out of Saturday's game against FC Dallas after suffering a return of concussion symptoms.

Philadelphia Union goaltender Zac MacMath has been ruled out of Saturday's game against FC Dallas after suffering a return of concussion symptoms.

MacMath got a concussion when struck with a knee in the head during a May 8 game against Seattle. He did not travel with the team to Texas.

The 20-year old participated in last week's game against the New York Red Bulls even after being labeled "out" during an injury report published early in the week. But ESPN color analyst Taylor Twellman reported this week that MacMath took a hit during practice to suffer his setback.

With MacMath out, the Union will turn to Chase Harrison or Chris Konopka. Neither has played a single minute this season, as MacMath has not come off the field for the Union this year.

FC Dallas will also be without its goalie, Kevin Hartman.
