The Philadelphia Phillies and San Francisco Giants will conclude their three-game series at Citizens Bank Park on Sunday (1:35 p.m. ET on PHL 17). Philly's Joe Blanton (8-8) will take the mound and oppose former teammate Barry Zito (8-6), as the Phillies try and salvage at least a victory in the three-game series.

On Saturday, Philly fell in 10 innings by a score of 6-5. The loss was the Phillies seventh straight loss at home and dropped them to a disappointing 17-29 at their home park -- a mark that is worst in the major leagues.

Blanton will enter the game coming off a nice start on Monday, while Zito tossed seven scoreless innings against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday. Both players pitched together with the Oakland A's from 2004-06.

The Philadelphia Phillies fought valiantly, but ultimately fell short in 10 innings on Saturday 6-5 to the San Francisco Giants at Citizens Bank Park.

Cole Hamels wasn't his usual brilliant self, allowing five runs in 7.2 innings on three walks and 10 hits, including a trio of home runs. Despite being staked to a 5-4 lead in the eighth, Hamels couldn't pass the baton to Jonathan Papelbon before giving up a tying-home run to Melky Cabrera.

In the 10th, Gregor Blanco was able to provide a RBI bunt single, driving in the eventual game-winning run home in the form of Cabrera.

Surprisingly, Philadelphia was able to hit Matt Cain hard who surrendered five earned runs in eight innings on five hits including blasts by Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Hamels.

Buster Posey was the star of the afternoon, going 4-for-5 with three RBI including a two-run homer in the third inning.

On Sunday, the Phillies will look to avoid the sweep with Joe Blanton on the mound against Barry Zito.

The Philadelphia Phillies (41-53) will look to rebound from their Game 1 loss on Saturday, taking on the San Francisco Giants (52-41) in the second game of the three-game series. Cole Hamels (11-4 3.07 ERA) will take the hill for Philadelphia, facing off with Matt Cain (10-3 2.56 ERA) for San Francisco in what could easily be an impressive pitchers' duel. Both men are in the top 10 in the National League for wins, strikeouts and innings pitched.

Philadelphia will likely need an impressive performance from Hamels. The offense was lacking in Friday's game, and history does not bode well for Game 2. Ryan Howard, Shane Victorino, Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins have all struggled against Cain.

The Philadelphia Phillies lost to the San Francisco Giants by a final score of 7-2 Friday night, losing the opening game of the three game series. Phillies hitters were unable to find much success against Tim Lincecum, getting five hits and two runs in seven innings while being struck out six times.

Vance Worley started for Philadelphia and appeared to be handling things until the top of the sixth inning. After two singles to open the inning Worley walked the bases full. Pablo Sandoval knocked in one run with a sacrifice fly and Worley walked the next man to load the bases again. Brandon Crawford took full advantage of that mistake, sending a ball over the right field wall to make it 6-1 San Francisco. Crawford picked up another RBI on a single in the eighth, but aside from a Ryan Howard solo home run in the bottom of the sixth Philadelphia didn't have an answer.

Philadelphia drops to 41-53 with the loss. They'll look to rebound in Game 2 of the series, scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 4:05 p.m. ET.

The Philadelphia Phillies and the San Fransisco Giants start a three game series Friday night at Citizens Bank Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.

The Philadelphia Phillies look to continue their hot start to the second half of the season as they welcome in the NL West leading San Fransisco Giants for game one of a three game series at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies currently sit 13.5 games behind the NL East leading Washington Nationals and 10 games behind the Atlanta Braves for the last Wild Card position. The Giants have a 2.5 game lead in the NL West over the Los Angeles Dodgers

Philadelphia will send out Vance Worley (5-5, 3.47 ERA) for Friday's series opener, looking to build off of his last start against the Colorado Rockies. Worley got the win against the Rockies when he gave up eight hits and just two earned runs in 6-2/3 innings of work.

The Giants will counter with Tim Lincecum (3-10, 5.93 ERA), who arguably had his best start of the year against the Astros on July 14. While he didn't factor in the decision, Lincecum pitched eight innings of shut out ball, only giving up five hits and striking out 11.
