There's only one match on the schedule today at the 2012 U.S. Open. The men's final will see No. 2 Novak Djokovic taking on No. 3 Andy Murray. Djokovic and Murray will face off on the main court at 4 p.m. ET. Djokovic advanced to the final on Sunday when he defeated No. 4 David Ferrer 2-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-2. Murray completed his semi a day earlier, defeating Tomas Berdych 5-7, 6-2, 6-1, 7-6 (9).

Djokovic would appear to be at a disadvantage as far as rest is concerned, having finished his semi-final a full twenty four hours after Murray. Djokovic has only lost one set all tournament though, so he's been about as efficient as possible in his title bid.

Djokovic and Murray met in the Olympic semi-finals, with Murray coming out on top en route to his Olympic gold. The two also faced off in the 2011 Australian Open men's final, where Djokovic defeated Murray with relative ease.

Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka face off for the championship as Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer vie for a spot in the final on Sunday at the 2012 U.S. Open. The two matches were scheduled for Saturday, but severe weather in the New York area forced them to be postponed.

Djokovic and Ferrer were in the first set when their match was suspended. Ferrer leads 5-2, with a chance to serve out the set when play resumes. Ferrer is attempting to make his first-ever Grand Slam final, while Djokovic is trying to defend his 2011 U.S. Open crown. Their match is set to begin at 11 a.m. ET on ESPN2.

The women's final is scheduled to start no earlier than 4:30 p.m. on CBS. Williams will be trying to win her 15th career Grand Slam title and fourth U.S. Open. Azarenka won her first Grand Slam earlier this year at the Australian Open.

The women's doubles championship will also be played on Sunday, as Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka face Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci.
Rain and winds battered Flushing Meadows on Saturday, but Andy Murray did not let the elements affect him, as the Brit advanced to the men's final of the 2012 U.S. Open with a win over Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic. It will be the fifth Grand Slam final appearance of Murray's career.

Murray advanced 5-7, 6-2, 6-1, 7-6 (9) over Berdych in a rain-delayed match that took three hours and 58 minutes. Berdych was more distracted by the environment, committing a whopping 64 unforced errors to just 20 for Murray.

The 2012 Open is the first major championship since the 2004 French Open to not have Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal competing in the semifinals. Murray will face the winner of Saturday's second semifinal match between Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer.

Serena Williams advanced to the U.S. Open tennis final to face Victoria Azarenka after cruising to another straight sets victory. Williams has yet to drop a set the entire tournament and has lost a total of only 19 games. Her latest opponent was Italy's Sara Errani and Errani had a large amount of praise for her afterwards:

"Given that men are always quick to say women are a lot worse ... I'd love to see her play in a (lower-level) men's tournament and see how they deal with her. It's easy to talk. On the court, it would be different," the 10th-seeded Sara Errani said.

The top-seeded Azarenka reached the final after defeating Maria Sharapova in three sets. Sharapova took the first set, 6-3, but Azarenka rebounded to take the final two, 6-2 and 6-4.

The men's semifinal matches will take place on Saturday. Andy Murray will face Tomas Berdych in the first match and in the second, Novak Djokovic will take on David Ferrer.

The women's side of the 2012 U.S. Open is down to two as Serena WIlliams and Victoria Azarenka won their semifinal matches on Friday at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Azarenka will be appearing in her first-ever U.S. Open final, with Williams making her sixth appearance.

Williams continued her string of dominant victories during the tournament as she lost just three games in a straight-set victory over No. 10 Sara Errani. Serena set the tone with her serve, smashing nine aces and winning 92% of her first-serve points. Errani could only muster six winners for the entire match.

Azarenka was given all she could handle by No. 3 Maria Sharapova. Azarenka dropped the first set to Sharapova before recovering to win the second. The two women held serve in the third until Azarenka was able to break Sharapova at 5-4 to win the match. Sharapova struggled to win her service games for most of the day, largely because of her 42 unforced errors.

The men's doubles final was also held at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Tuesday and Americans Bob and Mike Ryan took the title. The second-seeded Bryan brothers defeated Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek in straight sets to take the championship.
