The stout Nitany Lions defense have held the Buckeyes to one score, while getting a key special teams TD.

After a rigid first quarter, big plays marked the second quarter between Ohio State and Penn State, which sits 7-7 at the half. Mike Hull of Penn State blocked Ben Buchanan's punt, which was recovered in the end zone by Michael Yancich for the game's first score.

Following the special teams gaffe, Ohio State was finally able to sustain a drive, with Carlos Hyde capping off a 75-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown run. Despite a rushing attack that averages almost 250 yards per game, a stout Penn State defense has held the Buckeyes to 3.6 yards per carry.

Penn State's offense, behind senior quarterback Matthew McGloin, has yet to convert a third down and has just six first downs on the day.

The Nitanny Lions have also committed five penalties for 50 yards, aiding the struggling Buckeyes offense.

Quarterback Braxton Miller leads Ohio State with 59 rushing yards, as well as being 4 of 12 with 45 yards through the air.

It's much ado about nothing in the first quarter as the Buckeyes have failed to move the ball against a stout Penn State defense

An unstoppable force has met its immovable object. Ohio State has yet to move the ball on a rigid Penn State defense that came into this week ranked 13th in the nation in scoring defense with just 15.7 points allowed per game. The Buckeyes, who have averaged almost 250 yards per game on the ground, have been held to just 29 by the Nitanny Lions.

On the other side of the ball, Penn State has gained 38 total yards, and also like Ohio State punted the ball on its first three possessions.

The Buckeyes' quarterback Braxton Miller is 4-of-10 for 45 yards, and his Nitanny Lion counterpart Matthew McGloin is 3-of-5 for 25 yards.

Ohio State came into this game undefeated, with a 4-0 record in the Big Ten. Penn State is 5-2 overall, but is 3-0 in conference play after handling Iowa last Saturday.

Nittany Lions coach Bill O'Brien will try to limit Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller on Saturday.

Penn State coach Bill O'Brien said Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller is "the best" during his weekly press conference Tuesday.

The Nittany Lions host Miller and the ninth-ranked Buckeyes on Saturday.

"One of the keys to the game is to do the best we can to contain him and tackle him. And at the end of the day he's going to make plays," O'Brien said Tuesday. "And when he makes a play, we have to play the next play. We have to keep him out of the end zone the best we can. ... This is an excellent player who has had a heck of a season."

Miller is a dual-threat quarterback at Ohio State. He has completed 58 percent of his passes this season for 1,384 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions.

On the ground, Miller leads the team with 959 yards rushing on 141 carries. He averages 119 yards per game and has scored 10 rushing touchdowns.

O'Brien said his defensive line has to be disciplined in how they rush the passer.

"And if they can do that, they have a chance. But, again, at the end of the day this guy's going to make plays," O'Brien said. "And we're not going to shut this guy down totally. This is an excellent football player, and we just have to make sure that we show up and do the best we can on Saturday night."

Kickoff is 5:30 p.m.

Ohio State and Penn State face off in a matchup of teams that have yet to lose a Big Ten game, while Temple looks to stay afloat in the Big East and keep Pitt from getting into the conference win column.

Temple and Penn State are both in action with important conference games this Saturday - here's a look at the matchups for the two teams.

12 p.m., Temple vs. Pittsburgh, Big East Network/ESPN3: The Owls dropped their first Big East game last week against the still-undefeated Rutgers Scarlet Knights, but Pitt provides a less frightening conference matchup: the Panthers' only quality win on the year is a shocking upset of Virginia Tech: other than that, they've lost an FCS matchup to Youngstown State and all three of their Big East games thus far. Temple has played two other teams currently at 0-3 in conference, and won both times. Montel Harris has come on strong for the Owls, averaging at least 4 yards per carry in every game since he began regularly carrying the ball against South Florida.

5:30 p.m. Ohio State vs. Penn State, ESPN: The reinvigorated Nittany Lions play the biggest game of Bill O'Brien's tenure thus far, as the 8-0 undefeated Buckeyes come to Happy Valley. All of a sudden, Penn State looks like a world-beater, rolling off five straight since a pair of disappointing losses early. Matt McGloin has completed at least 60 percent of his passes and thrown ten touchdowns against only one pick in Penn State's five-game winning streak, most recently a 289-yard outing as the Nittany Lions stomped Iowa. Although Braxton Miller has had Ohio State's offense clicking, the Buckeyes were pushed to overtime by a lowly Purdue team last week.
