The Louisville Cardinals stayed undefeated as they scored 28 unanswered points to finish the game, beating the Temple Owls 45-17. Teddy Bridgewater stole the show with five touchdowns and 323 yards passing before leaving the blowout early in the fourth quarter.

The No. 10 Louisville Cardinals will stay undefeated, as Teddy Bridgewater's five passing touchdowns highlighted a 45-17 victory that was close early, but wasn't a contest after halftime.

The game was tied at 17 in the second quarter, but Bridgewater and the Cardinals pulled away with four unanswered touchdowns. Although Bridgewater's passing numbers stole the show, the Cardinals also did work on the ground, with Jeremy Wright rushing for 100 yards on only 10 carries and Senorise Perry adding 64 more. Louisville shut out Temple after the the 10-minute mark of the second quarter, holding the Owls' quarterbacks to 5-of-15 passing.

Bridgewater spread the ball around well, with tight end Ryan Hubbell more than doubling his season production thanks to a 72-yard touchdown that was good enough to lead all receivers by itself. Bridgewater completed passes to nine different receivers.

Things started out nicely for the Owls as Matt Brown ran back the opening kickoff, and they kept the game close on the strength of 111 first-half yards and a touchdown that tied the game at 14. But that was pretty much the extent of Temple's offense: Harris had only 14 yards in the second half, and Chris Coyer threw the ball just eight times, completing two passes for 20 yards. Coyer played poorly, fumbling the ball three times and actually ending the game as the Owls' leading receiver, as he was the target of a wide receiver pass in the first quarter. After his third turnover, he was benched for backup Clinton Granger to start the fourth quarter.

Box Score Hero: Bridgewater's five touchdowns and 323 yards passing came on only 28 passes. He struggled on the team's first few drives, but spread the ball long, short, and to both sides of the field in a dominant performance. He gave way to Will Stein late in the game with the win in hand.

Rankings Ramifications: The top ten ranked Cardinals should have been worried about the upset bid early, but they got the comfortable victory. They'll keep climbing and stay the top team in the Big East.

But Did They Cover?: Louisville easily cleared the 13-point spread.

Chris Coyer's second and third fumbles of the day gave Louisville the opportunity to score twice, and Teddy Bridgewater responded by throwing another two touchdowns to put the Cardinals up 45-17.

Bridgewater now has five touchdowns and 324 yards passing on the day. The score was tied 17-17, but Louisville has scored four touchdowns with no response from Temple.

Louisville only picked up one first down before punting on the first drive of the half, but Chris Coyer fumbled the ball on a zone read to give Cardinals the ball right back. Teddy Bridgewater responded with a play action pass on a crossing pattern to DeVante Parker for a 25-yard touchdown, Bridgewater's fourth of the day, to put the Cardinals up 38-17.

The Owls tried to force the ball through the air down three touchdowns, but were forced to punt after losing two yards on three plays. Jeremy Wright had an 18-yard run for Louisville on the next possession, but a bootleg for Bridgewater ended up with a sack for a major loss of yardage, ending Louisville's drive. However, another Coyer fumble set the Cardinals up in good field position. Wright ran 32 yards to the four-yard line after a false start penalty, and after another penalty, Bridgewater threw a nine-yard pass to Andrell Smith with the third quarter winding down.

Teddy Bridgewater has three touchdown passes, and a game that looked like it could have featured an upset bid is starting to get out of hand, as the No. 10 Louisville Cardinals are now up a pair of scores on the Temple Owls, 31-17.

Montel Harris has been great for the Owls with 111 yards on 13 carries, but Bridgewater is tearing the Owls apart with his arm. The score was tied 14-14 after the first quarter, and it was tied again after a field goal for each team, but two unanswered Louisville touchdowns aren't good for Temple's hopes of handing the Cardinals their first loss of the season.

The Cardinals boomed a 36-yard field goal on the first play of the second quarter. Temple's next drive featured several nice runs, with Harris and quarterback Chris Coyer each busting out long gainers, but stalled in Louisville territory as Brandon McManus tied the game up again with a 34-yarder.

DeVante Parker caught a 27-yard jump ball in double coverage to get the Cardinals into Temple territory, and Bridgewater tossed a 22-yard strike to Andrell Smith near the pylon, but Jeremy Wright is the one who punched in a three-yard run to put Louisville up 24-17.

Harris had more big runs and bounced off a tackle to pick up a fourth-and-1 conversion on Temple's next drive, but true freshman Kyle Friend -- starting his first game at center -- pushed a snap well over Coyer's head, forcing the quarterback to sprint to fall on the ball for a loss of about 20 yards. Coyer had earlier fumbled on the exchange to give Louisville short field position, so the Owls' adjustment to a new inexperienced center is really hurting them.

Following the punt, Louisville had three minutes to extend the lead and all three timeouts. Senorise Perry picked up 23 on the ground on the first play to open the field for a play action pass and quarterback scramble, both of which got first downs. A few plays later, Bridgewater finished the drive off with an easy 14-yard toss to Andrell Smith in single coverage on a post route to put the Cardinals up two scores. Temple couldn't put together a drive on its last possession of the half and eventually kneeled.

The Temple Owls got a score on the opening kickoff and Montel Harris has been great on the ground, but the undefeated Louisville Cardinals responded with big plays of their own as the score is tied 14-14 after one quarter.

Harris has 62 yards and a touchdown on only six carries on primarily routine runs behind great blocking But Teddy Bridgewater has two touchdowns, including a 73-yard pass to tight end Ryan Hubbell, to even the score.

The Owls got on top early as Matt Brown sliced through the Cardinals kick coverage for a 93-yard runback to get Temple on the board on the opening kickoff.

The score was evened up quickly though, as the Cardinals drove 86 yards in ten plays. Temple got Louisville to a fourth down, but the Cardinals went for it in enemy territory and picked up a conversion on a scramble by Bridgewater. A few plays later, Bridgewater slotted a 15-yard bullet into a tiny window to find Eli Rogers between three Owls' defenders for a touchdown.

An 11-yard rush by Montel Harris was all that happened for the Owls on their first real drive, as they were forced to punt after a single first down. The Cardinals' second drive stalled when Chris White was stopped a half-yard short of the sticks on third down. But Charlie Strong opted not to go for it as he did on his team's first drive, punting from his own side of the field.

Strong running and some trickeration let the Owls move down the field on their next drive. Harris had several more nice runs, and wide receiver Jalen Fitzpatrick didn't make the best throw on a throwback pass play to Chris Coyer, but he still hit his quarterback for a 15-yard gain - the biggest pass play of the day for Temple thus far. Harris finished the drive off by following his blockers and hitting the defense with a stutter-step on an five-yard TD run on third-and-one.

But Louisville once again responded quickly, with Bridgewater finding a wide open Ryan Hubbell for a 73-yard strike thanks to blown coverage downfield. Hubbell was open on a fly route with nobody between him and the end zone, and although the tight end was almost caught from behind, he made it to pay dirt untouched.

On the first play of the Owls' next drive, Coyer botched the exchange with the center and fumbled. A holding penalty pushed the Cardinals back, but a dumpoff to Senorise Perry brought Louisville into field goal range to end the half.

The Owls travel to Louisville to take on the Big East's lone unbeaten team.

The Temple Owls will have their hands full on Saturday when they travel to Louisville to take on the unbeaten Cardinals, who rank No. 10 in the country.

While Louisville is undefeated, it has not played a very rigorous schedule. The Cardinals have yet to play a ranked team this season and have won their last six games by 10 points or less.

Temple is a struggling football team, though. The Owls have lost four of their last six games, including a 47-17 drubbing from Pittsburgh last week.

A win is necessary for Temple to get back in the conference title race. Louisville and Rutgers are already two games ahead of the Owls in the loss column.

The two teams last played each other in 2006. It was a blowout with Louisville winning, 62-0.

Game time: 12:00 p.m. ET

TV schedule: ABC

Odds: Louisville is favored by 16 points (according to OddsShark)
