Puerto Rico Tip-Off 2011: Temple Takes On Purdue

The Temple Owls will continue their run in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off tournament this afternoon against the Purdue Boilermakers. Temple is 2-0 on the season and coming off a 69-55 victory over Western Michigan. The Boilermakers are 3-0 on the season but have won their last two games by a combined three points, including a 91-90 victory over the Iona Gaels. Both teams will be playing the second of a back-to-back.

In Temple's win over Western Michigan all five starters scored in double figures, but the bench only managed to score four points. The Owls are led by senior guard Juan Fernandez, who is averaging 16.5 points and 5.5 assists in two games this season. He's shooting 48 percent from the field, 40 percent from three and 75 percent from the stripe. Senior big man Micheal Eric is also off to a good start to the season, averaging a double-double with 10.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and three blocks a game.

Temple is an early one-point favorite in Vegas.
