Temple's Steve Addazio Not Interviewing For Illinois Job

Addazio not interested in the Illinois job

Temple head football coach Steve Addazio will not be interviewing to replace Ron Zook, who was recently fired, as the head football coach at the University of Illinois. Zook was fired after losing the last six games of the 2011 season.

The school was interested in Addazio and asked the Owls' athletic director Bill Bradshaw to talk to Temple's first-year head coach about the position. When Bradshaw talked to Addazio about the Illinois job, Addazio said (via Philly.com), according to Bradshaw that

he was very happy to be at Temple, and not interested in that opportunity.

Addazio went 8-4 during his first season with the Owls and finished second in the MAC East standings behind Ohio. Temple won their last three games of the regular season and are waiting to see where they will be heading in the bowl season. The latest bowl projections have the Owls going to either the New Orleans Bowl or the New Mexico Bowl.
