Former Connecticut All-State linebacker Tyler Matakevich will continue his football playing days for the Temple Owls. The announcement came last Thursday, as former St. Joseph player said he would enroll at Temple for the second semester.

"I'm so happy to finally get this done after all that hard work. It's finally paid off," said Matakevich.

Matakevich is a 6-foot-1, 210-pound linebacker that helped St. Joseph win back-to-back state titles from 2009-10 and has since been playing at prep school, Milford Academy, in upstate New York.

"Tyler was the (Milford) Falcons leading tackler and team captain," wrote Mike Pucci of the New Haven register," amassing 104 tackles, 48 solo tackles, 21 TFLs, 2 INTs, 1 Pass Deflection and 6 Sacks. Tyler will be playing for Coach Steve Addazio, former Head Coach at Cheshire High School and Offensive Coordinator for the University of Florida Gators."
