Temple Football Recruiting: Owls Land RB Montrell Dobbs

The Temple Owls picked up a former Connecticut Huskies commitment today in three-star running back Montrell Dobbs (via ESPN Insider) from Ansonia, Conn./Milford Academy.

Dobbs committed to UConn originally but had to go elsewhere because of an academic issue. Dobbs was considering Marshall until he met with Temple head coach Steve Addazio and assistant coach Sean McGowan. Addazio, who is also a Connecticut native, made Dobbs an offer and he accepted.

Dobbs said

"I really didn't have to think about it much. I wanted to stay closer to home anyway. It was a good fit for me."

During his senior year at Ansonia, Dobbs (5-9, 185) rushed for 3,445 yards and 45 touchdowns. He was the offensive MVP for the Milford Academy last season.

Dobbs hopes he will be able to play next year for Temple but may only be a partial qualifier. No matter what happens with his eligibility for football, Dobbs said he will be enrolling at Temple.
