Temple Football Recruiting: WR James Whitfield Commits To Owls

The Temple Owls picked up another wide receiver commitment as James Whitfield committed (via News-Press.com) yesterday.

Whitfield (6-1, 180) received an offer from Tennessee when he was in high school in Fort Myers, Florida. He also had offers from Kent State and South Florida. A knee injury slowed him down and he decided to go the prep route at Hargrave Military Academy. Whitfield is a two-sport athlete who also excelled on the basketball court. It was at Hargrave where Whitfield was noticed by Temple head coach Steve Addazio.

Whitfield is not Addazio's first military academy commitment this offseason. Temple also landed running back Montrell Dobbs from the Milford Academy earlier this month.

Temple has 30 commitments in the Class of 2012. National Signing Day for college football is on Feb. 1.
