Temple vs. UConn final: Owls win 17-14 in OT

The Temple Owls knocked off the Connecticut Huskies in overtime, 17-14, in Big East Conference football action on Saturday afternoon. Temple kicker Brandon McManus hit a 29-yard field goal to win it, after UConn's Chad Christen missed a 28-yard kick to end the Huskies' possession.

Temple running back Montel Harris had a key 10-yard run on the Owls' overtime series to get his team into field goal position. Led by Harris, the Owls racked up 202 rushing yards in the game. Meanwhile, the passing game struggled for the most part, but quarterback Chris Coyer led the Owls on a 12-play, 72-yard drive near the end of regulation, and capped it off with a game-tying 14-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Fitzpatrick.

Connecticut quarterback Chandler Whitmer had a successful day throwing the football, but the Huskies stalled late in the game and allowed the Owls back in it.

Box Score Hero: Temple running back Montel Harris rushed 30 times for 142 yards and a touchdown in leading the Owls to the victory. Connecticut quarterback Chandler Whitmer completed 22 of 39 passes for 293 yards and a couple of scores in a losing effort.

But Did They Cover? The Huskies entered the game as 5-point favorites over the Owls at home, so payouts will go to those who bet on Temple. The two teams fell short of the over/under of 41.
