Bowl game projections 2012: Temple on the bowl game bubble

At 3-3, the Temple Owls are on the bubble of a bowl game, according to the latest projections.

With five games remaining in the regular season, the Temple Owls are 3-3 and will need to win three of their last five games to become bowl eligible. With a bowl game still very much in question, the Owls are only included in one of three projections from major media outlets.

In the latest bowl game projections from the Sporting News, Temple is projected to earn a bid to the Pinstripe Bowl. They are projected to face Iowa State in the game, which would be played on December 29. The Pinstripe Bowl is a matchup between the No. 7 team from the Big 12 and the No. 4 team from the Big East. Temple is currently the fourth seed in the Big East, but still needs to gain bowl eligibility.

Neither ESPN, nor CBS Sports projects Temple to gain bowl eligibility. ESPN projects Syracuse to play in the Pinstripe Bowl, while CBS Sports only has three Big East teams becoming bowl eligible. Temple will attempt to take the next step to bowl eligibility this week when they go on the road to face Pittsburgh.
