The Temple Owls are fourth in the Big East standings after losing, 47-17, to the Pittsburgh Panthers on the road this week. Temple is one game behind the third-place Syracuse Orange.

The 7-1 Rutgers Scarlet Knights and 8-0 Louisville Cardinals are the frontrunners at this point in the Big East with Rutgers having a slight advantage because of its 4-0 conference record compared to Louisville's 3-0 Big East mark thus far. The Cincinnati Bearcats, just behind Temple in fifth place, are the nearest team to gaining bowl eligibility. The Bearcats are only 1-1 thus far in conference play, but are 5-2 on the season.
