2012 Big East Football Standings: Temple wins opener

Temple won its first Big East game but still has work to do if it wants to catch up to the Big East's three ranked teams that remain undefeated after six weeks.

The Temple Owls might still be .500 on the season, but they got a win in their Big East opener against South Florida to put them in the upper half of the Big East standings.

The league is still led by a trio of undefeated frontrunners in Louisville, Cincinnati and Rutgers. Louisville still hasn't started conference play and had the week off, while Cincinnati beat up on Miami (Ohio) to go to 5-0 on the year. Rutgers dominated UConn 19-3 to become the first team in the conference to win two conference games.

Elsewhere, Syracuse beat Pitt to win its first game against FBS competition on the year and move to 2-3 on the year. Here's a look at the overall standings for the conference:

All three undefeated teams are ranked in the latest AP Poll: Louisville at No. 18, with Rutgers and Cincinnati clocking in at No. 20 and No. 21.
