The Temple Owls have lost their football coach, as Boston College has hired Steve Addazio to coach the Eagles after firing Frank Spaziani.

Addazio only coached two seasons at Temple, his first collegiate head coaching job after making his name as an assistant for two national title teams at Florida. The Owls handled MAC competition his first year, going 8-4 with a win in the New Mexico Bowl, the team's first bowl win in 32 years. But Addazio couldn't carry the strong play into the Big East, as Temple went 4-7.

Addazio is the second straight coach to leave Temple for an ACC team: he had been hired in 2010 to replace Al Golden, who left the program to take the head job at Miami. The Boston College program had sputtered under Spaziani, appearing in bowls in his first two years on the job before going 4-8 in 2011 and collapsing to a putrid 2-10 in 2012.

The search for Temple's next head coach will begin immediately, according to a press release from the school. Athletic director Bill Bradshaw said that the school had already heard from between 16-20 candidates.
