Philly Schools Dominate Atlantic 10 In Rare Fashion

Bob Ford wrote an interesting piece today previewing the Atlantic 10 Tournament for the three Philly schools involved. Temple, St. Joe's & La Salle. He found that this is the first time since 1983-84 season that all three schools have won at least 18 games.

How rare is it? The last time these three schools all had 18 or more wins in a season, St. Joe's coach Phil Martelli was head coach at Bishop Kenrick High School, Dunphy was an assistant at American University, and La Salle coach John Giannini was a senior forward at North Central College in Illinois..

The Atlantic 10 tournament begins March 6th at campus sites and will shift to Atlantic City from March 9th-11th. This is the final year the tournament will be in AC, who hosted it for six straight years, as it will move to the new Barclay's arena in Brooklyn for 2013.
