Led by junior guard Khalif Wyatt, the Temple Owls picked up their 12th win in their last 13 games. The Owls needed overtime to close out their home season with a 90-88 over Massachusetts on Wednesday night.
With 16 seconds left in overtime, Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson grabbed a defensive rebound and fed the ball to Wyatt who made the game-winning layup. The Minutemen attempted two more shots as the seconds melted away, but it was to no avail.
Wyatt finished the night with 26 points, four rebounds and six assists. He was one of four players from Temple in double figures. Hollis-Jefferson and Michael Eric combined for an astounding 27 rebounds, which helped the Owls overcome converting just 39 percent from the field.
Temple has a one-game lead over Saint Louis University with just one game left to play in the regular season. They travel to Fordham on Saturday to close out and get ready for the tournament.
