Addition Of Transfer Jake O'Brien Adds Depth, Fills Gap For Temple

With the transfer of Boston University's Jake O'Brien, the Temple Owls added a 6'9", 220-pound power forward who averaged 11.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per game during the 2010-11 season. After suffering a foot injury at the end of the season, O'Brien re-injured the foot in September and took a medical redshirt for the 2011-12 season, leaving questions about what positives he will bring to Temple.

SB Nation's blog Mid-Major Madness decided to take an advanced analytics look at the newly-added Owl in order to try and determine where he will fit in at Temple.

O'Brien's defense is not quite up to the level of Eric (a DEF100 of 10.18 versus Eric's 22), but still strong. It would make O'Brien somewhere between the second or third best player on Temple, with the wildcards being the growth of Anthony Lee and Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson.
