Temple Vs. Villanova Score Update: Owls Rushing Attack Builds 28-10 Lead After 1st Half

The Temple Owls lead their FBS rival Villanova 28-10 after the first half of the Mayor's Cup at Lincoln Financial Field. The Owls gashed the Wildcats on the ground, averaging seven yards per carry and racking up 183 yards in the first 30 minutes. Matt Brown has carried the ball nine times and already amassed 96 yards, while quarterback Chris Coyer has rushed it 10 times for 66 yards. Villanova came up with a couple key holds on defense, but they struggled to find an answer up front for the Temple rushing attack.

Both Coyer and Brown have scored on the ground, but the real backbreaker for the Wildcats came when Brown busted one for 56 yards in the final 30 seconds of the half to push the lead to 18 points.

The Owls also added a defensive touchdown at the start of the second quarter when Vaughn Carraway picked off Chris Polony and took it to the house from 58 yards out. Polony, who got the start but has rotated with John Robertson, tried to force it into double coverage and Carraway was there for the pick six.
