Former Villanova All American Scottie Reynolds Drafted To NBA's D-Leauge

The All American has returned home. Former Villanova Wildcat Scottie Reynolds quit the Italian team, Prima Verdi, he had been playing for due to “homesickness.” Reynolds wasn’t out of a job for long though. Tonight, in the NBA Developmental League Draft Scottie Reynolds was drafted 12th overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder owned “Tulsa 66ers.”

D-League blogger Scott Shroeder feels like the move will benefit Reynolds.

Reynolds should have a chip on his shoulder during his time in the D-League since he became the first All-American to start his professional career outside of the NBA since Steve Logan in 2002. Lucky for him, though, he should stand out in the D-League just as he did in the Big East and could see a call-up by the time the D-League Showcase comes around in mid January.

As Schroeder also points out, the level of competition he’ll face in the D-League will be clearly superior to that of the Italian Second Division… So if he wants a career in the NBA one day, this is certainly a better stepping stone.
