The Villanova Wildcats look to extend their 3-0 start on Thanksgiving day when they meet UC Riverside in the 76 Classic (4:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2).
Villanova's junior class led a 79-69 victory against Delaware on Friday. Dominic Cheek and Maalik Wayns both scored 21 points, and classmate Mouphtaou Yarou added 19.
The Wildcats led by just four points five minutes into the second half, but timely buckets by the trio of juniors kept Delaware at bay.
"We're obviously a work in progress here but you have to give Delaware a lot of credit," stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright. "Devon Saddler was incredible tonight. To have the ball in his hands that much and only turn it over three times was incredible. Their other guys played well off of him.
"Thank God Dominic made some big shots in the second half. We could have been in more trouble than it looked like we were in. He saved us a number of times."
Cheek was named to the Big East Conference Honor Roll for his efforts in Villanova's first three wins.
UC Riverside dropped to 1-2 on Tuesday with a 53-49 loss to Youngstown State.
