Big East Tournament Bracket: Syracuse Elminates St. John's

St. John’s Madison Square Garden magic finally ran out as they were ousted by Syracuse 79-73 in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament. Sophomore guard Brandon Triche led the Orange with 22 points to set up a meeting with red hot UConn in the semi-finals tomorrow.

Rutgers fans will take a bit of solace in seeing St John’s guard Dwight Hardy called for a key traveling call down the stretch which just might be what put the game out of reach for the Red Storm. It was a non call on an obvious travel by St. John’s yesterday that robbed Rutgers of a chance at a last shot that could have tied or won their matchup.

There’s two more games on the Big East docket for today. The Cincinnati Bearcats face the #2 seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 7:00 PM on ESPN. Immediately following that game will be the Marquette Golden Eagles taking on the #3 seed, Louisville Cardinals. The winners of those two games will face each other in the semifinals.
