The Villanova men's basketball team looks to turn its Big East fortune on Wednesday, when the Wildcats visit the Cincinnati Bearcats at 12 p.m.
Villanova has lost four out of five to begin conference play, falling to No. 1 Syracuse last time out on Wednesday night, 79-66. Mouphtaou Yarou, Dominic Cheek and JayVaughn Pinkston each scored 12 points to lead the Wildcats, who fell below .500 (8-9) for the first time this season. The game was more or less decided by halftime, as Syracuse entered intermission with a 43-24 lead.
Cincinnati has been almost unbeatable since an ugly brawl against Xavier, winning eight of nine since the fight and beginning Big East play at 3-1. The Bearcats' only loss since the Xavier game came last Saturday against St. John's. That day, a disappointing offensive effort was doomed when St. John's forward Moe Harkless made a tip-in at the buzzer to defeat Cincinnati, 57-55. Cincinnati quickly bounced back from the loss, upsetting No. 11 Georgetown on the road Monday, 68-64.
