The Villanova Wildcats won their second game in Big East play. They beat Seton Hall by a final score of 84-76 on Wednesday night.
Seton Hall trailed 37-28 at the end of the first half. In the second half of the game, they closed the gap to just two points, but the Wildcats went on a run with eight unanswered points, six of them coming on free throws, at about the 12 minute mark.
Maalik Wayns and JayVaugh Pinkston both topped the 20-point mark in the win. Wayns led the team with 25 points. he also had five rebounds, seven assists and a steal. Pinkston scored 23 points and had a team-best 11 rebounds.
Fuquan Edwin led the Pirates with 14 points, nine rebounds, four steals and three assists. Herb Pope, the team's leading scoring who was averaging 17 points per game, was held to just 10 points. He also had eight rebounds, one assist, three steals and three blocked shots.
The win gives the Wildcats a 2-5 record in the Big East and a 9-10 record overall. They travel to New York on Saturday for a game against St. John's.
