The Villanova Wildcats will look to snap a two-game losing streak Thursday, as they host the South Florida Bulls in a Big East Conference game (7 p.m. on WPHL-17 and ESPN3) at The Pavilion. The Wildcats (7-7, 0-2 Big East) will try to avoid their worst start in league place since 2006-07 when they began 1-3, while the Bulls (8-7, 1-1) have never started their conference schedule 2-1.
Currently, Villanova has dropped seven of its last 10 games, including Sunday's loss to No. 20 Marquette Golden Eagles, 81-77. Mouphtaou Yarou netted a team-best 14 points in the loss, while JayVaugh Pinkston had a collegiate-best 13. The Wildcats leading scorer, junior guard Maalik Wayns (17.2 points per game), tallied just 12.
Meanwhile, USF earned its first Big East victory of the year Sunday when freshman guard Anthony Collins went coast-to-coast to convert a game-winning, old-fashion 3-point play to help the Bulls down Rutgers, 67-65.
Collins leads USF in assists per game (5.5), while senior forward Augustus Gilchrist paces the Bulls in scoring (11.1 ppg).
