NBA Draft 2012: Maalik Wayns Will Enter Draft, Not Hire An Agent

Maalik Wayns will declare for the NBA Draft but has decided not to hire an agent, leaving open the possibility he could return to Villanova for his senior season.

The Villanova Wildcats announced Wednesday that Maalik Wayns will declare for the 2012 NBA Draft but will not hire an agent, leaving open the possibility that the high-scoring guard could return to Villanova for his senior season if he so chooses.

"I want to test the waters at this point to see where I stand," said Wayns, who paced the Wildcats in scoring in 2011-12 with a 17.6 ppg average.

"I think this is a smart decision for Maalik at this stage of his career," stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright. "I look forward to working with him as we go through this process."

The Wildcats' high-scoring guard is projected as a late-second round pick by DraftExpress, which hosts a wealth of draft information.

The deadline for early-entrant candidates to remove their names from the NBA Draft pool is April 10.
