Villanova Wildcats guard Tony Chennault has been given a hardship waiver by the NCAA and will have immediately eligibility, according to a report (Philly.com). Chennault is a former Wake Forest player who transferred in the spring to be closer to family in Philadelphia. He still has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Wildcats head coach Jay Wright said in a statement:

"The Chennault family has been dealing with so much this year. Tony's mom has faced health issues and his brother, Mike Jay, died tragically earlier this month. We are grateful that the NCAA has taken these unique circumstances into account and I know Tony is excited about the opportunity to be on the court with us next season."

Chennault (6-2, 195) went to Ss. Neumann-Goretti before Wake Forest. He scored 9.2 points per game and had 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game for the Demon Deacons in 2011-2012.
